Cut-off conversations that shorten year-end AP testing
Year-end AP testing compresses into the same days as inventory counts and auditor visits. The teams that finish cleanly decide cut-off rules before December rushes begin.
Name the warehouse cut time
If goods received after 5 p.m. on the last business day post to the next period, write that down and share it with AP and the warehouse. Testing then compares receipts to that clock instead of debating folklore.
Separate GRNI from disputed invoices
Goods received not invoiced should not sit in the same aging bucket as invoices under commercial dispute. Split them so accrual testing and dispute tracking stay distinct.
Book a mid-January follow-up
Payments in the first two weeks of January often belong to December. Scheduling a short cut-off revisit after the holiday break catches those without reopening the entire engagement.
